Connect a Notion database
Give ChartOmodo read access to the Notion databases you pick, then chart them. It takes about two minutes.
Updated 20 October 2026
Before you start
Every plan can connect Notion, Free included. Each Notion workspace you connect uses one data connection, and so does each sample dataset or CSV file. The Free plan has 2 connections; Pricing lists the rest.
Connect a workspace
- In ChartOmodo, open Add a source in the sidebar and press Continue to Notion.
- Notion asks you to pick a workspace. You sign in to Notion and choose which workspace ChartOmodo should read from.
- You choose the databases to share. On Notion's screen, select at least one database. Anything you leave unselected stays invisible to ChartOmodo.
- You land back on your dashboard. The databases you shared appear in a list. Pick one and the chart builder opens with its properties ready to plot.
A second workspace works the same way: once one is connected, the button reads Connect another workspace. Reconnecting a workspace you already added does not use another connection.
Share a database you add later
Notion shares only the databases you picked on its screen. To add one later, open it in Notion, then use ••• → Connections → ChartOmodo. It appears in ChartOmodo after a reload.
What ChartOmodo can read
Read only. It lists the databases you shared, reads their property names, and reads rows to add them up. It never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your workspace, and it cannot see pages you did not select. Your Notion token is encrypted at rest.
How fresh the numbers are
- Rows are re-read on a timer set by your plan: every 5 minutes on Free down to every 30 seconds on Business.
- When Notion reports an edit to a connected database, its cached rows are marked stale ahead of the timer.
- To re-read now, open a chart’s ••• menu on the Charts page and choose Force refresh. In an embed, the Refresh data button does the same.
How your columns are read
- Rollups: a calculated rollup (sum, average, min, max) reads as the number Notion computed; a “Show original” rollup over numbers reads as their total.
- Numbers stored as text: a cell counts only when all of it is a number, with a short currency or unit at most (“€1.500”, “12 kg”). One column is read under one decimal convention.
- Per-row math: ChartOmodo does not compute per-row fields, your Notion formula does. Add a formula property (for example
prop("Qty") * prop("Price")), then pick it as the Y axis. Notion’s formula documentation covers the syntax.
Stop sharing
Open Add a source and press Disconnect next to the workspace. Charts built on it stay in your account but stop showing data, embeds included, until you connect it again. To also remove ChartOmodo’s access inside Notion, use Settings → Connections there.
No Notion yet?
On the same screen, press Try with sample data: the builder opens on a sample database, and you can swap it for your own later. Or use Upload a CSV (/connect/csv) for a file of up to 5 MB and 50,000 rows; the file is stored in full until you delete the connection.
If it does not work
The Connect screen says you did not approve the connection
Notion’s screen closed before you approved it. Press Continue to Notion again and pick a workspace.
Your plan is using all of its data connections
Each workspace, sample dataset and CSV file counts. Make room with Disconnect or Delete in the ••• menu next to a source on Home, or upgrade, then connect again.
New connections are paused
ChartOmodo is under maintenance. Try again shortly.
A database is missing
It was not selected on Notion’s screen. Share it with ••• → Connections → ChartOmodo, then reload.
Questions
Can ChartOmodo change anything in my Notion workspace?
No. It lists the databases you shared, reads their property names and reads rows to add them up. It never creates, edits or deletes anything, and it cannot see pages you did not select.
Why is a database missing after I connected?
Notion shares only the databases you selected on its screen. Open the database in Notion, use ••• → Connections → ChartOmodo to share it, then reload ChartOmodo.
How do I connect a second Notion workspace?
Open Add a source and press Connect another workspace. Each workspace uses one data connection; the Free plan has 2 connections.
How fresh are the numbers in my charts?
Rows are re-read on your plan's timer, every 5 minutes on Free down to every 30 seconds on Business, and sooner when Notion reports an edit. Force refresh in a chart's menu re-reads them at once.
