Embed a chart in a Notion page
Copy a chart's Embed link, paste it into Notion with /embed, and the interactive chart sits in the page. It takes about a minute.

Before you start
You need a chart built in the builder. A public chart’s link works on every plan. Private charts, whose link carries a secret token, come with the Starter plan.
Embed a chart
- Open the chart in the builder and press Save & embed (Update chart once it has been saved). The Chart saved dialog shows its link: copy it. A private chart’s link already carries its token.
- In Notion, type
/embedand paste the link. The block renders the interactive chart, not a screenshot. - To resize, hover the block and drag the handle on its right or bottom edge, and the chart re-renders to fill the new box.
- To make it wider than the text column, drag the block to full width from the block menu (⋮⋮ → Full width).
Need the link again? It stays in the builder’s Share section, in the Embed link field. On the Charts page, a public chart’s ••• menu has an Embed link row with a copy button too.
Pick a theme
Without a parameter the chart keeps the Embed theme saved in the builder. Add ?theme=dark or ?theme=light to the link to pin one, or ?theme=auto to follow the reader’s device light or dark setting. Dark / light on every plan; auto from Starter.
Keep a private chart private
In the builder’s Share section, turn off Anyone with the link and save. The embed link then carries a secret token: anyone holding it can view the chart, so treat it like a password. Embed pages send no Referer header, so the token is not passed on to anything the page loads or links to.
If a link leaks, open the chart in the builder, save it and choose Rotate link in the Chart saved dialog. Every copy of the old link stops working at once; paste the new one wherever the chart was embedded.
Embed a dashboard
Dashboards and their share links come with the Starter plan. On the dashboard, press Share, then Turn on, and copy the public link. Paste it into Notion with /embed, like a chart. The link carries a secret token, and Rotate link in the same dialog replaces it.
Where embeds work
Embeds are currently limited to Notion pages: other sites are blocked from framing them.
What the links look like
Replace the capitalised parts. The app shows every chart’s real link, token included, so there is nothing to assemble by hand.
- A public chart: the link shown on /charts
https://chartomodo.com/embed/YOUR_CHART_ID - A private chart: copy it from the builder's Embed link field; the token is the password
https://chartomodo.com/embed/YOUR_CHART_ID?token=YOUR_EMBED_TOKEN - Forcing a theme: dark / light on every plan; auto from Starter
https://chartomodo.com/embed/YOUR_CHART_ID?theme=dark - A shared dashboard: copy it from Share on the dashboard (Starter and up)
https://chartomodo.com/embed/dashboard/YOUR_DASHBOARD_ID?token=YOUR_SHARE_TOKEN
If it does not work
The embed shows nothing, or Notion says the link can’t be embedded
The URL must be a ChartOmodo embed link, a path under /embed/. A /charts link is the editor’s own page and will not render.
The chart is empty or says there is no data
Open the chart’s ••• menu on the Charts page and choose Force refresh. Rows added in Notion since the last read appear once it has run.
A number column reads as zero or is missing
A cell counts only when all of it is a number, with a short currency or unit at most (“€1.500”, “12 kg”). How your columns are read has the details.
Colours look wrong on a dark page
Pin the theme by adding ?theme=dark to the embed link. ?theme=auto needs the Starter plan.
A rotated link still opens the chart
The old link can survive in a browser cache for a moment. Reload the page, then contact support if it persists.
Questions
Do people need a ChartOmodo account to see an embedded chart?
No. Anyone who can open the Notion page sees the chart. A private chart's link carries a secret token, so only people who have the link can load it.
How often does an embedded chart update?
It re-reads the rows on your plan's timer, and sooner when Notion reports an edit. The Refresh data button on the embed re-reads them at once. Pricing lists the timer for each plan.
What happens to the old link when I rotate it?
Every copy of it stops working at once and cannot be restored. Paste the new link wherever the chart was embedded.
