Use ChartOmodo from an agent or coding assistant

An assistant that can read OpenAPI or a skill file can push rows into ChartOmodo and read charts back. You stay in charge of what gets drawn and where it is embedded.

What an agent can do today

  • Create a dataset and push rows, replace them or append to them, with an Idempotency-Key so retries are safe.
  • List your charts and read the categories and series a chart draws.

Creating charts over the API is next on the roadmap. Until then the agent pushes the data and you build the chart in ChartOmodo in a minute.

Three ways in

  1. OpenAPI. Give your tool https://chartomodo.com/openapi.json. It lists every endpoint, schema and error code.
  2. Skill file. Save https://chartomodo.com/developers/agents/skill.md as SKILL.md in your assistant's skills folder. It carries the workflow and the limits.
  3. One Markdown file. Paste https://chartomodo.com/llms-full.txt into the context when your tool reads neither of the above.

Try it from a terminal

curl https://chartomodo.com/api/v1/me -H "Authorization: Bearer cmo_..."
curl -X POST https://chartomodo.com/api/v1/datasets -H "Authorization: Bearer cmo_..." -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"name":"Daily sales","rows":[{"day":"2026-10-01","amount":120.5}]}'
curl https://chartomodo.com/api/v1/charts -H "Authorization: Bearer cmo_..."

Keep the token safe

Give the agent its own token, named after the agent, so you can revoke it alone. Do not paste tokens into prompts that get logged. The token can read your charts and write to datasets it created, nothing else.

Questions

Does ChartOmodo run a model of its own?

No. Your assistant does the thinking. ChartOmodo stores the rows, draws the chart and serves the embed.

Can an agent delete my data?

Only datasets created through the API, with DELETE on that dataset. Charts built on it stay. Notion, CSV and connector sources are not reachable over the API.

How do I cut an agent off?

Revoke its token in Settings, API. Every request with that token answers 401 from then on.

Which plan do I need?

API access starts on the Pro plan. The token page tells you if your plan does not include it.
