Connecting Notion

When Notion does not finish connecting, the Connect screen says why. Find the sentence you see below.

You did not approve the connection

  • “You did not approve the connection in Notion. Try again and pick a workspace to continue.”

Notion’s screen closed before you approved it. Press Continue to Notion again and pick a workspace.

The request expired or did not finish

  • “Notion rejected the connection request. Start again from this page.”
  • “Notion rejected the permissions ChartOmodo asked for. Start again from this page.”
  • “The authorization from Notion expired before we could use it. Start again from this page.”
  • “Notion sent you back without an authorization code. Start again from this page.”
  • “That connection link expired or was opened out of order. Start again from this page.”
  • “Notion would not hand over an access token. Start again from this page.”
  • “Notion's reply did not include an access token. Start again from this page.”
  • “Notion finished the approval without telling us which workspace it was for. Start again from this page and pick a workspace explicitly.”

Start again: open Add a source, press Continue to Notion and pick a workspace on Notion’s screen. If it happens again, email us (see Still stuck).

Notion is busy

  • “Notion hit a problem on its side. Give it a moment and try again.”
  • “Notion is busy right now. Try again in a minute.”

The problem is on Notion’s side. Wait a minute, then press Continue to Notion again.

Your plan is using all of its data connections

  • “Your plan is already using all of its data connections. Delete one on this page, or upgrade, then connect again.”

Every kind of source shares one count: each Notion workspace, sample dataset, CSV file, dataset pushed through the API or dataset a connector syncs uses one data connection. Make room with Disconnect or Delete in the ••• menu next to a source on Home, or upgrade, then connect again. Reconnecting a workspace you already added does not use another one.

New connections are paused

  • “ChartOmodo is under maintenance, so new connections are paused. Please try again shortly.”

ChartOmodo is under maintenance. Try connecting again shortly.

Something broke on ChartOmodo’s side

  • “ChartOmodo is not configured to talk to Notion right now. Email support@chartomodo.com.”
  • “Something broke on our side while finishing the connection. Try again, and email support@chartomodo.com if it keeps failing.”

Try once more. If the same message comes back, email us (see Still stuck) with the message you see.

Any other message

“Notion did not finish connecting. Start again from this page, and email support@chartomodo.com if it keeps failing.” Start again from Add a source, and email us if it keeps happening.

A database is missing

Notion shares only the databases you picked on its screen. Open the database in Notion, use ••• → Connections → ChartOmodo, then reload ChartOmodo.

The Notion guide has the short version.

Charts

The preview says “No rows match the current filters”

The preview has nothing to draw. Your rules may leave no rows: remove the last rule you added in Rows included, or widen a date window. The same message shows when the source has no rows yet, or when the Y column is blank in every row. If you just added rows in Notion, choose Force refresh in the chart’s ••• menu on the Charts page.

Sum, Average, Min and Max are missing

Every Y column is a type that cannot be added up (title, select, status, multi-select, date, people, relation, URL, email, phone, files, or a created or edited time or person), so the menu offers only Count and Count unique. Pick a number, text, checkbox, formula or rollup column to get the rest. For per-row math, add a formula property in Notion; the rollup guide shows how.

You cannot add another Y column

If the builder says “This chart type draws one value.”, the type takes one Y column: pie, donut, KPI, gauge, funnel, treemap, calendar and waterfall charts draw one value, so pick a bar, line or area chart for more. Otherwise the chart is at your plan’s series cap: remove a column or upgrade. Build your first chart lists the cap on each plan.

Split by is locked or missing

Split by needs the Starter plan or above, one value column, and a type that draws one mark per series, such as bar, line or area. With more than one Y column, the builder asks you to remove the others.

Percent of total is missing or switched off

Percent of total shows on a bar, line or area chart with Sum or Count. While Cumulative is on, it is switched off and greyed out; turn Cumulative off and it comes back as you left it. Cumulative needs the Starter plan and does not work with Count unique.

The Annotations panel is missing

Annotations (Pro) shows where the chart can draw a reference line: bar, line and area charts, not horizontal bars, on the engines that support it, and a heatmap on one engine. It also shows whenever the chart already has annotations. If the chart cannot draw them, the panel says so: remove them, switch to a bar, line or area chart, or, for a horizontal bar, set Orientation to Vertical.

Embeds

The embed shows nothing, or Notion says the link can’t be embedded

The URL must be a ChartOmodo embed link, a path under /embed/. A /charts link is the editor’s own page and will not render. Copy the link from the builder’s Share section, in the Embed link field. Embeds are currently limited to Notion pages: other sites are blocked from framing them.

The embed says “This embed is not available.”

The link no longer opens anything. ChartOmodo shows the same sentence for every cause, so check each:

  • The chart’s link was rotated with Rotate link. The old link never comes back: copy the new one from Embed link and paste it into Notion again.
  • You turned off Anyone with the link after embedding. The chart is now private and its link needs a token: copy the new link from Embed link.
  • A dashboard’s sharing was turned off. Press Share on the dashboard, then Turn on: the link you already pasted works again, unless it was rotated.
  • The chart or dashboard was deleted.
  • The account that owns it is suspended, or the chart or dashboard was taken down. Email us (see Still stuck).

The chart is empty or says there is no data

Open the chart’s ••• menu on the Charts page and choose Force refresh, or press Refresh data, the round arrow button at the top right of the embed. Rows added in Notion since the last read appear once it has run. The button re-reads Notion only, so it does nothing for an uploaded CSV file, a dataset pushed through the API or a dataset a connector syncs.

A number column reads as zero or is missing

A cell counts only when all of it is a number, with a short currency or unit at most (“€1.500”, “12 kg”). How your columns are read has the details.

Colours look wrong on a dark page

Pin the theme by adding ?theme=dark to the embed link. ?theme=auto follows the reader’s device setting and needs the Starter plan.

A rotated link still opens the chart

You are probably signed in to ChartOmodo in that browser as a member of the chart’s organization: members see a private chart without a token. Inside Notion the old link shows “This embed is not available.” To check, open the old link in a private window.

Connectors

When a test or a sync fails, the message says why and what to change. The connectors guide has the setup steps.

Databases

  • This host points to a private or reserved address. Use your database's public hostname.
  • We couldn't find that host. Check the hostname.
  • Couldn't reach the database. Allow 169.58.110.230 (and 2a02:c207:2348:659::1) in your firewall.
  • The database took too long to answer.
  • Secure connection failed. Paste your provider's CA certificate. If you trust the network path, SSL mode 'require' skips certificate checks.
  • This database requires SSL. Switch SSL mode to 'verify-full' or 'require'.
  • This database asks for the password in clear text. Switch SSL mode to 'require' or 'verify-full'.
  • Username or password was rejected.
  • That database doesn't exist, or this user can't open it.
  • For your safety we don't accept superuser accounts. Create a read-only user (the connectors guide has the SQL).
  • This user can't read any tables. Grant SELECT on the tables you want to chart.
  • The table no longer exists or this user lost access to it.
  • This table or tab is larger than 10 MB. Pick fewer columns or chart a summarized view or tab.
  • This database version or sign-in method isn't supported yet.

Google Analytics and Search Console

  • Google access was revoked or has expired. Reconnect the Google account to resume syncing.
  • Google didn't grant read access to this data. Reconnect and tick the permission box on Google's screen.
  • Google's API quota is used up for now. We'll retry later.
  • This Google account can no longer read that property or site.
  • The table no longer exists or this user lost access to it.
  • This table or tab is larger than 10 MB. Pick fewer columns or chart a summarized view or tab.
  • Google didn't answer. We'll retry on the next sync.

Stripe

  • Use a restricted key with read-only access. ChartOmodo refuses secret (sk_) and publishable (pk_) keys.
  • Stripe rejected this key: it was deleted, rolled or has expired. Create a new restricted key and replace it under Edit.
  • This key can't read everything ChartOmodo needs. Edit the restricted key and set Customers, Subscriptions, Prices, Products and Coupons to Read, then click Sync now.
  • This Stripe account is too large for one sync: it has more than 10,000 subscriptions, or reading them took longer than 20 seconds.
  • This table or tab is larger than 10 MB. Pick fewer columns or chart a summarized view or tab.
  • Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes.
  • Stripe didn't answer. We'll retry on the next sync.

Google Sheets links

  • ChartOmodo can't read this sheet. In Google Sheets choose File → Share → Publish to web → Comma-separated values (.csv), or Share → General access → Anyone with the link (Viewer), then add the link again.
  • This sheet or tab no longer exists, or its link changed. Add it again with the current link.
  • This table or tab is larger than 10 MB. Pick fewer columns or chart a summarized view or tab.
  • Google didn't answer. We'll retry on the next sync.

Questions

What does "This embed is not available." mean?

The link no longer opens a chart or dashboard: its token is wrong or was rotated, the chart was deleted, the dashboard's sharing is off, or the owning account is suspended or the content was taken down. Copy the current link from ChartOmodo and paste it into Notion again; if the content was taken down or the account suspended, email support.

Why are Sum, Average, Min and Max missing in the builder?

Every Y column is a type that cannot be added up, such as a select, a date or a relation, so only Count and Count unique apply.

How fast does support reply?
